Repressive, Suppressive or Oppressive: Contempt Party rules.

The base speaks! About Stevie Spiteful and his *leadership*

By way of illustration this is an exchange I saved, in response to a tweet from @trustytory, twoweeks after the federal election. IMHO it's a useful demonstration of how adherents to the Contempt Party ideology are in thrall to Stevie Spiteful's authoritarian wiles.

@deBeauxOs1 :
@trustytory @Martin_Rayner Cons support Stevie's Big Plan to change Canada but NDP's appeal to progressives is *ridiculous*? #cpc #Contempt

@trustytory :
@deBeauxOs1 @Martin_Rayner That word "progressive" means absolutely nothing anymore. It is even silly to use it.

@deBeauxOs1 :
@trustytory @Martin_Rayner Really? Gosh, I didn't know that. Con & Tory is still relevant though, as in shorter #Con job and #ReformaTory.

@trustytory :
@deBeauxOs1 @Martin_Rayner Mulroney also had western members. You're going to have to find something new.

@deBeauxOs1 :
@trustytory Now you're just blabbing. Western members? Doesn't mean anything anymore, it's even silly to say that. #Contempt

@trustytory :
@deBeauxOs1 @Martin_Rayner Whatever. Keep spinning the "ReformaTory" nonsense like it actually means something.

@trustytory :
@deBeauxOs1 @Martin_Rayner By the way, the "contempt" nonsense was swept away with the Tory majority. How did that work out for you?

@deBeauxOs1 :
@trustytory @Martin_Rayner #Contempt swept away? Wow! Just like magic! Con leader SHithead going to flush all his dirty tricks out of sight?

@trustytory :
@deBeauxOs1 @Martin_Rayner It was a load of bunk invented by a partisan committee to trigger an election - and it failed.

@deBeauxOs1 :
@trustytory if you believe that, you'll swallow anything and bend over willingly. Hope you enjoy the reaming you'll be getting #ConJob

@trustytory :
@deBeauxOs1 It's better than the 13 years under Liberal contempt for Canada. I'll bend over anytime for Conservatives.

Ow. I guess it sucks to be screwed, unless the ones doing the screwing have a blue label.

That's the kind of scary mindset progressives are up against.

Mulroney's western members? I just choked on my lunch as I read that! What rock has Trustytory been hiding under? I seem to remember those so-called Mulroney western members getting increasingly disgruntled under him due to the fact that he was cowtowing to Quebec Nationalists at the expense of the west. More importantly, I also remember those western Conservatives becoming disillusioned with Mulroney administration because they believed they were losing conservative values. Preston Manning formed REform from that. I don't know why I'm writing this here, you know all that, I should be writing that on Trustytory's page. But then, my little history lesson would simply have a Liberal bias for him/her.

I'm also still troubled by the double standard of Canadian voters. When the Liberals were embroiled in ADSCAM, we voted them out of office, only to never vote them back again. Those involved (public servants; bureaucrats; no MPs), were put in jail and/or fired. Careers ruined.

The Harpercons have been caught in numerous scandals, many of which do surpass the sponsorship scandal, such as the G8 misspending, yet they get promoted with a majority. Dracula gets the keys to the bloodbank. Bevie the document doctoring queen gets voted back into office and keeps her cabinet post. And we're just supposed to not only keep quiet about it, we're supposed to forgive it with open arms.

I have a strange suspicion that if the NDP were ever to be embroiled in such scandals, they'd get pretty much the same treatment as the Liberals did for ADSCAM.

Since it was only public servants involved in adscam, it's scary how harshly the Liberal party was punished for it. If the NDP forms government in 4 years, staffers hired/appointed by the current government could easily perform an adscam-redux (the recommendations of the Gomery commission haven't been implemented).

*stares at the final entry*

....has it occurred to Trusty that perhaps 'bending over' for no one might be an option of merit?

But hey, authoritarian followers in action. I wonder, if Harper decided tomorrow to (yes, I know this is a thought experiment without basis in reality)co-opt all the NDP stances and carry through on them, would the followers even blink, or merely sing his praises?

Nope, they weren't. The Harpercons & their cheerleaders sure enjoyed hammering ADSCAM, but did Stevie ever follow one of Gomery's recommendations? Noooooo!!! We now see why after every Harpercon transgression and how they get away with it.

Now, there's another Liberal senator, Mac Harb, I think his name is, who is under investigation by the RCMP, watch the Harpercons & their cheerleaders milk this for all its' worth, especially now that parliament has been adjourned for the summer, and it's a slow news season. Check out the outcry, Why is he still around? Why isn't he in jail? Why is he still breathing? Don't get me wrong, if this senator has been proven to have been crooked, he should be punished, but what's happening with Senators Gerstein and Finley these days? Oh yes, another blatantly visible double standard. And will anyone call these Cons and their media for it? Probably not.

That's a good question, Niles. Though, that's never likely to happen. Remember, Stevie is feverishly trying to turn Canada into his neo-con utopia. His base is just ga ga giddy over that. Probably why they're more than willing to allow them to do whatever they like, damn the rules.

But, since you're asking Niles, I'll play. My educated guess is that it would be a Preston Manning type (if not the Preston, hisself), getting all those western and those Ontarian, tea-party Harrisites (hey, that rhymes with parasite! what do ya know!), would break away and form yet another socially and fiscally far right party a la Reform.
